Veil of the Lost Undertow

A shifting mass of shadow and whispering echoes drifts through the air, its form reminiscent of a heavy fog that absorbs light rather than reflects it. The creature glides silently, enveloped by an aura of desolation that leaves behind the faint scent of decay. Those who draw near may hear desperate pleas and mournful wails from the depths of their own memories, drawing them to an almost hypnotic state. It thrives on despair and emotional turmoil, feeding off the very essence of lost hopes and abandoned dreams. When it strikes, it tangles with your mind and soul, conjuring long-buried fears and regrets, bending them to its will.

Special Traits
Inescapable Grasp. A creature that starts its turn within 10 feet of the entity must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or become grappled by intangible tendrils. While grappled in this way, the creature cannot willingly move away from the entity and takes 10 (3d6) psychic damage at the start of each of its turns. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, freeing itself on a success.

Echoes of Regret. When a creature is reduced to 0 hit points by an attack from the entity, the entity can choose to immediately launch a volley of psychic energy. All creatures of its choice within 30 feet must make a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw, taking 22 (4d10) psychic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a success.

Shadowed Reality. As a bonus action, the entity can create a 20-foot-radius sphere of dim light centered on itself. Creatures of its choice within this sphere can’t regain hit points, and all healing spells cast in this area are negated. This effect lasts until the entity ends it as a bonus action or is incapacitated.

Actions
Multiattack. The entity makes two attacks with its Psychic Tendril.

Psychic Tendril. Melee Spell Attack: +9 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 28 (4d10 + 4) psychic damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened until the end of its next turn.

Mournful Wail (Recharge 5-6). The entity unleashes a devastating wail filled with sorrow. Each creature of its choice within 60 feet must succeed on a DC 17 Constitution saving throw, taking 45 (10d8) necrotic damage and becoming incapacitated until the end of its next turn on a failed save, or half as much damage with no other effects on a success.

Rejuvenating Shadow (1/Day). When reduced to half its hit points or lower, the entity can absorb shadow energy from its surroundings. It regains 40 hit points and can move up to half its flying speed immediately after. The radius of its Shadowed Reality effect expands to 30 feet until the end of its next turn.
