Veil of the Dreamweaver
Wondrous Item (Cloak), rare (requires attunement)
This ethereal cloak appears to shimmer in the presence of light, constantly shifting in hue between shades of deep twilight and soft dawn. The fabric feels weightless against the skin and is adorned with intricate silver threads that weave the patterns of stars and clouds throughout its surface. When you don the cloak, you feel an immediate connection to the fleeting realm of dreams.
While wearing the cloak, you gain the ability to manipulate the dreams of others. Once per long rest, you can cast the spell Dream without expending a spell slot. Additionally, while in a state of sleep or during a short rest, you may voluntarily enter a character’s dreams within 100 feet of you, allowing you to communicate or share visions of your choosing as if you were using the Sending spell.
The cloak also grants you resistance to psychic damage as your thoughts become shielded by a veil of dreams. Should a creature attempt to invade your mind with spells such as Detect Thoughts or similar effects, it must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or be temporarily disorientated, suffering disadvantage on their next attack roll or saving throw.
In times of danger, you can invoke the protection of the cloak. As a reaction, when you are targeted by an attack, you can briefly surround yourself with semi-ethereal shadows, imposing disadvantage on the attack roll. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Finally, when you sleep while wearing this cloak, you experience profound visions, granting you advantage on your next Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma saving throw as you draw inspiration from your dream encounters. However, you may also find yourself subject to strange whims, leading you to experience vivid and possibly unsettling dreams for the duration of the next long rest.
This cloak not only enhances your abilities but allows you to weave tales and share dreams, making you a unique storyteller and tactician among your peers.
