Scepter of Temporal Echoes

Wondrous Item (Scepter), rare (requires attunement)

This elegantly designed scepter is crafted from a shimmering silver metal that seems to ripple like liquid mercury. Its handle is wrapped in dark leather, and at its tip, a small crystal orbs pulsates with a soft, ethereal blue light. When held, the scepter resonates with a faint hum, as though whispering the echoes of time itself.

Once per day, you can use the scepter to invoke one of its unique abilities:

  1. Temporal Shift: As a bonus action, the wielder can manipulate time to gain an advantage on their next attack roll or saving throw before the end of their next turn. The scepter can only be used once to invoke this ability after each long rest.

  2. Echo of the Past: Once per long rest, you can cast the spell Speak with Dead using the scepter. This ability allows you to communicate with the last echoes of the deceased, not only giving you information about their death but potentially revealing insights about their past encounters or knowledge.

  3. Fleeting Moments: As a reaction, when you or an ally within 30 feet is hit by an attack, you can spend one charge from the scepter to momentarily shift the flow of time. The attack automatically misses, but the scepter loses one charge when this ability is used. The scepter has 3 charges, and regains 1d3 expended charges after a long rest.

However, the scepter’s powers do not come without a cost. Each time you use the Temporal Shift ability, you must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or suffer a brief disruption in your own timeline, causing you to lose your next action as you become momentarily disoriented by the echoes of time.

This scepter can turn the tide of battle, but it also serves as a reminder that tampering with time can lead to unforeseen consequences. Use its power wisely, for the fabric of reality is a delicate thing.
