Cloak of Shadows and Whispered Secrets

Wondrous Item (Cloak), rare (requires attunement)

This elegant cloak appears to be woven from shadows, shifting and swirling with an inky darkness that seems to have a life of its own. When worn, the cloak maintains a comfortable weight, despite its ethereal appearance. Tiny, silver threads embroidered along its hem form intricate patterns of ancient runes that glow faintly under the moonlight.

While wearing this cloak, you gain advantage on Stealth checks made in dim light or darkness, as the cloak seems to absorb the surrounding shadows. Additionally, the cloak grants you resistance to necrotic damage and allows you to cast the Invisibility spell (with a casting time of 1 action) once per long rest without expending a spell slot. When you do so, the cloak shimmers for a moment before the shadows envelop you.

However, the cloak holds a darker affinity, whispering secrets of the past and the thoughts of those nearby. As part of your action, you can choose one creature you can see within 30 feet of you. Make a Charisma saving throw against your spell save DC; on a failure, you can learn one secret the target has been keeping, whether it’s a hidden fear, a buried memory, or a dangerous plan. This ability can be used once per short rest.

The cloak has a tendency to draw the wearer into the thoughts and emotions of others. At dawn each day, roll a d6. On a roll of 1, the mountains of whispers will overwhelm you, imposing disadvantage on all Wisdom saving throws until your next long rest.

Wearing this cloak is a constant reminder that knowledge can be both a boon and a burden, urging its user to tread carefully along the path of secrets.
